For the month of March, a Consultation Process is being
undertaken with with Community. The initiative is derived from identified
community needs and a provincial undertaking to promote new relationship
building. The process will be facilitated by a team which includes Kelvin
Morrison, Charlie Windego, and Drew Attwell. Direction will be given by
the community throughout the project which will be reflected in the final
outcomes/deliverables. In short, the process for consultation will be
derived from the community input.
At the community level this translates
to talking to members, ie Elders, Youth, Staff, Council and as a
collective. This is a task which will seek to develop an approach for
effective and efficient consulting whithin the community on issues, as well as
define how we wish to consult and be consulted with regarding external
processes. For example, a Community Consultation
Process for issues such as hiring practices, board appointments
etc. and external issues such as the resource law, our relationship with
tribal agencies as well as Grand Council and others, including governments
ect. Our work takes us out into the community and meeting with folks to
get the job done; our main base is out of the Community Access (computer
lab) building.
We are honored to assist with the initiative over the next
month and look forward to meaningful and valuable input from everyone.
Stay tuned for information, schedule of events, community meeting dates ect. as
these become available.
