Ken Dryden and Ken Boshcoff Visit
On September 3, 2009  the Community of Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation was eagerly awaiting the arrival of two special guests to our Community.  For weeks now the Community has been anticipating the arrival of two dignitaries -Ken Boshcoff and Ken Dryden.

Both Boshcoff and Dryden are large supporters of the Liberal riding, Dryden is well known for his 6 wins of the Stanley Cup while he played with the Montreal Canadians. Today, we were proud to have them in our Community discussing the Traditional Beliefs and Culture of the Anishinaabeg Peoples.

The visit started off with one of the communities traditional drum groups entertaining us with their ever amazing voices of the strong values and beliefs as they teach us through their drum.  As the afternoon progressed, we were delighted to have Boshcoff and Dryden take a tour of the Pow wow grounds with Chief Gary Allen of Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation.

6th ANNUAL POWWOW

Come join us while we celebrate our 6th Annual Powwow in our new grounds.  August 21,22,23, 2009.

POWWOW UPDATES
Today I have taken a few more pictures of the powwow grounds. As you can see the grounds are coming along nicely. Yes, the workers will be done for this years powwow, however there work on the powwow grounds will continue after this years powwow.
